Why can't I paste images into gmail? - Google Product Forums

Loading images from a hard drive or a URL isn't really the question, is it? Kathrynbeacon asked why she can't PASTE images. Joshua's answer vaguely says why pasting isn't supported, but the fix offered does not allow pasting an image into a gmail message.
