Java Applets not working in IE9 (Applets forum at JavaRanch)

Java Applets are not working in IE9 for some reason. I have tried running my own applets in IE9, ... just not in IE9. How do I fix this? Yes, I did turn off Active-X filtering for the website. It shows a rectangle with a red x in the top left hand corner.
