I5 (desktop) vs i7 (laptop) - Intel i7 - CPUs

Would an i5 3570K on a desktop outperform a i7 on a laptop? If so why? ... http://www.bit-tech.net/blog/2013/05/25/don-t-be-fooled... According to this, a desktop i3 will circulate around a laptop i7. Not surprising though.
