H2AX Is Required for Cell Cycle Arrest via the p53/p21 Pathway
The cellular response to DNA damage involves a series of events that lead to either cell cycle arrest or apoptosis. One of these events is the phosphorylation of histone 2AX (H2AX), which constitutes a significant portion (2 to 25%) of H2A (21).
